Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of St. Peter's is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Service can happen in many different forms, some as simple as handing out bulletins. If you are interested in any of the various ministries below, please contact the church office. See where you can get involved to share God's love in Christ with La Grange and the world!

Greeters are the hospitable group of men and women who meet you as soon as you step in the door for worship. They hand out bulletins and announcements, provide direction, and make sure each person knows they belong in the presence of God and his people to receive his gifts of grace. Greeting is a great service for someone who has a busy schedule but is passionate about making people feel welcome at St. Peter's.

The usher team at St. Peter's fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, assisting with offering, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The usher team is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Altar Guild

St. Peter's Altar Guild is a collection of women who tirelessly handle the “behind-the-scenes” aspects of worship prior to the service to see that it runs smoothly and seamlessly. Some of their duties include changing the paraments on the altar, pulpit, and lectern as well as setting up the Communion elements. If you are looking to serve St. Peter's in an indispensable way but are not comfortable with being in front of people, Altar Guild may be the place for you!

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege we have in our modern age of ministry. We have a responsibility to use these technological tools in the best way possible to grow God's kingdom. All of our weekly sermons are uploaded to our website in an audio format. We also maintain an active Facebook page for additional church communication.

God-honoring worship is something for which we strive. Our music ministry is a great way to get involved in the worship life of the congregation. Some volunteers play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of St. Peter's, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

During his ministry on earth, Jesus made special mention of the Father's love for children. In Sunday School, we seek to show the children under our care just how much God loves them. Positions are available as a classroom aide, assisting with activities during Sunday School, or a substitute Sunday School teacher, filling in when another teacher is unavailable for a weekend.

St. Peter's not only seeks to introduce youth to Jesus but also to help them maintain and grow that relationship with the Lord, who saved them. If you are passionate about guiding youth in their social and spiritual development or if you just want to help someone else do that job, there is room for you among our youth volunteers.
